This is what they shared with us:
GP3 and speaker Footers
We met Derrick and his wife Deirdre at an open house audio event @ Corby’s Audio. Everyone who attended were passionate Audiophiles and it was nice to find another husband and wife team such as my wife and I that also have a passion for music.
Anyway, Derrick was proud to show off and talk about his isolation products and I am always interested to hear about, see new products and learn. Plus, if it is in Don’s store, it must be good!
As months had gone by since Don’s event, I popped into Corby’s Audio for a visit and I recalled the GP3 shelf and asked Don if I could take it home for a trial. “No problem”, he said.
I have always known isolation is extremely important aspect of audio and also known it can be a relatively inexpensive way to improve your sound without an astronomical equipment upgrade.
Out come the isolation bearings from my new Esoteric K03-XD cd player and I slide under the Audio Nut GP3 platform. This platform is not small and you may need to reconfigure your set up to accommodate this. Right away, my wife and I notice a difference. I don’t understand the engineering behind this, yet that is not my concern, that is for Tough Nut Audio to figure out. I do know, this is a very nice improvement for your source components such as CD players and Turntables. This GP3 is not intended for your 20 year old sony CD player. This product is for those in the 90th percentile of their audio journey. If you have a passion for music, the GP3 could be waiting for you at the end or your journey.
The speaker footers, a relatively new product, Derrick left us a set after dropping off our custom GP3 in walnut finish. Our Dynaudio C4 are a large and heavy speaker. We removed the isolation bearing setup from the C4 that we have been very happy with and installed the Tough Nut footers (Isolation Cones).
Well, with disbelief of how large the improvement was , it didn’t seem like the same recording. I know people and reviewers talk like that, but we all know it is the same recording. In this case, my wife actually asked me if we were listening to the same recording. When I said, “yes it is the same recording”, her response was, “We are not giving these footers back”. Not that my wife ever throws caution to the wind with our money, but she didn’t even ask the price.
I have a theory of why there was such a significant improvement in the overall sound of our system. With the GP3, the only part of our system that it could have an effect on is our Esoteric cd player. The sound that comes out of our Dynaudio C4 is an accumulation and performance of everything before it, CD player, Amp, cables, power conditioner, isolation and so on. The footers to me, has the ability to affect and pull the best out of all your components. Top to bottom, the sound was better, more focused, more natural and most importantly a more musical system. This I would say, is a very important upgrade that all music lovers should be able to afford and should be high on their shopping list.
